Hello and welcome to The Versatile PhD! If you are a humanities or social science graduate student, postdoc, or PhD/ABD/MA working outside the academy, or even just trying to get work outside the academy, you’ve come to the right place!
The free community area of this site is the new and permanent home of the community formerly known as Work For Us, a listserv based at Duke University. Here you will find all the same good things people loved about the list: quality information about nonacademic careers, peer-to-peer advice and support, plus occasional Online Career Panels featuring humanities and social science PhDs who have left the academy and pursued post-academic careers.
Membership in the Versatile PhD community is FREE. All you have to do is register, then watch for that all-important confirmation email so you can click on the link. And you don’t necessarily have to remember to visit the site. Everyone who registers received posts by email unless they change their settings (other options incluide daily digest or no emails at all).
